Lebanese Dried Mint Omelet
We’re all too familiar with the tons of ways one can do an omelet, with a rainbow of veggies, mushrooms, deli meats, Â spices, fancy sauces…etc. However, sometimes going the “simple” way has its own charm. Lebanese dried mint omelet recipe is simple yet quite delicious with mint flavor.

And today, after having tried many amazing omelets, this simple omelet recipe is still my all-time favorite: eggs, dried mint powder and salt cooked with olive oil. Â This is an omelet that is common in Lebanese homes, and in our case our late grandmother used to make it for us on Saturdays when we were kids.
Prepare Lebanese Dried Mint Omelet to Solve Olive Oil Heat Tolerance Problem
Some folks have issues using olive oil for frying due to its low heat tolerance. However we prepare this omelet on low/medium heat so the olive oil doesn’t heat up too much and oxidize (usually, once heated oil starts to smoke it’s an indication of oxidization and that it’s becoming full with free-radicals – not healthy).
Dried mint can be purchased at Middle Eastern grocery stores, or online. It can also be easily made at home using this method.
Recipe: Grandma’s Simple Omelet – Lebanese Mint Omelet
Summary: A simple yet very delicious traditional Lebanese omelet.
Omelet Ingredients (3-4 servings)
- 9 Eggs
- 3 teaspoons of dried mint powder
- A pinch of Salt
- 3-4 table spoons of Olive Oil
Preparation Method
- In a bowl, whisk the eggs, salt, and dried mint powder well.
- Drizzle a bit of olive oil in a frying pan over medium/low heat.
- Pour the equivalent of 3 eggs at a time in the frying pan for 3 minutes then turn the omelet over to the other side using a spachula for another 3-4 minutes.

yum..earthy and fragrant, but no black pepper? sometimes we also add green onion and parsley for ojji..another dish we do , we fry the eggs in olive oil and then add good sumac and chopped green onion on top
Hi Zeki – yep nothing else, just eggs, mint and salt.. the beauty of this one is in its simplicity. I am familiar with the versions with parsley and green onions and love them too. So many good ways one can enjoy eggs, it’s such a blessing!
