Day 3 is over. And I feel as if we’ve just crossed above 30,000 feet of altitude on a long haul flight. Rough turbulence from the takeoff has subsided, my stomach’s fullness sensors seem to have been re-activated and the captain (my subconscious food habits) has turned off the seat belt sign. I feel less strapped and confined now.
Things felt normal to a certain extent. My day 2 starches and proteins cravings have considerably gone down, and my stomach feels full now when I drink juices. I’m no longer feeling constant hunger.
Today I had 2-3 cups of apple juice, 2 cups of organic red grapes juice, 1 cup of Coconut water from a freshly cracked Coconut, which I also ate, and of course water. And as part of the initial 5-days where some vegetarian solids are allowed, I also made a nice saute of green peppers, red pepper, spinach, Cayenne pepper, black pepper, crushed garlic and some olive oil. It tasted real good. Today was coffee-free, I just didn’t crave it.
As far as weight goes, in the morning I weighed 229.4lbs. This is about 2 lbs of weight loss in 2 days and I expect around 15 lbs of weight loss at the end of the 15 days fasting. I’ve tried a calorie reduction diet in the past and I seem to have hit a block at the 10 lbs mark so let’s see if I can pirece through it this time around.
Growing up in Lebanon mom has often made us freshly squeezed orange juice at home. We lived near Tripoli which was famous for its citrus so we had easy access to freshly picked organic oranges. And we’ve occasionally had fresh carrot and apples juices as well.
However I didn’t think about juicing a variety of other fruits until just a few days ago. The novelties that I’ve tried so far are from green grapes, red grapes, kiwi, peaches, plums, cherries, pomegranates and raspberries. And I tell you, they taste like nothing I’ve ever had, not even wallet-robbing “designer” juices from Whole Foods Market. If I can summarize freshly squeezed juice with just two words, it’d be smooth and rich. Every time I have a fresh cup of juice, I feel energized and brain more alert.

Some of our facebook fans decided to join the wagon; Paula and Hannah welcome aboard and I hope that this will be a rewarding experience for you.
And now on to a daily summary from our friend Lino who’s fasting along.
Lino’s Day 3 Summary
Morning Weight: 234 lbs
Foods Consumed: 4 cups of juice made with kale, chard, parsley, cucumbers, carrots, Apples, 2 salad, plenty of water. One tea(my morning tea).
Allergies/Medical Condition: High BP 121/75 Good
Notes: Day 3 felt ok. My main challenge was keeping from tasting food I cook for the family but it was ok. My energy levels were good but it was a holiday so it was watching TV with my son and playing around the house with both the kids.
