Juice Fast Or Juice Cleanse Outcomes
I wore one of my regular jeans today and was walking around the house when I heard my wife’s sweet giggles at my saggy pants. Apparently, and even though I haven’t lost that much weight yet, however, the juice fast seems to have put me in a position of needing a belt for my current size 40. Not bad at all. Furthermore, she noted that it’s quite apparent from my face and neck that I’ve lost a considerable amount of weight. Awesome!
I hope that by the end of this marathon, I would drop to size 38 or even less. I actually forgot what less than size 38 feels like it’s been a long while.
Influencer: The Power to Change Anything
This daily monitoring of weight is an interesting exercise to try as it tells you a lot about your “behavior” in the prior day. And keeping a written record, that is visually available (say on the fridge, or on the wall above the scale) seem to help a lot with the “will power” aspect of weight management. I learned this technique from the book “Influencer” by Kerry Patterson, Joseph Grenny, David Maxfield and where they talk about what top world influencers do differently in order to be that effective in influencing difficult changes. And the book focuses a lot on tangible behaviors. When it comes to weight, they noted a study which concluded that people who have lost weight and kept it off for good have the following common behavioral patterns: They eat breakfast, they measure their weight on a daily basis, and they have an exercise machine at home.
I have daily breakfasts. And I have an exercise machine at home which is currently used as a coat hanger. So those two alone didn’t do much in the past. However once I started measuring and writing down my weight on a daily basis and keeping it visually accessible in the kitchen right above the scale, it gave me a good motivation and automatically forced me to be conscious of my food decisions. And that DID work!
Day Summary
This morning I weighed 229.4 lbs, one pound loss from yesterday. It looks like I may have jumped on the wagon of 1-1.5 lbs average weight loss a day. As far as juices, I had 1 cup of carrot juice, 3 cups of mean green, 2 cups of fresh ginger tea and other things… wait.. what “other” things? Ok.. I’ll confess. Today I was supposed to start a pure juicing fast, however I made myself a small excuse. I had 1.5 bowls of lentils soup left from the prior day, and my wife wasn’t in the mood for it. So in order to not waste food, I “sacrificed” and enjoyed that soup. I also “had to” eat that half Avocado left in the fridge so it doesn’t go to waste too. However I was good at resisting my wife’s calls to join her in enjoying an amazing salad from Chipotle. I did well there even though I was very hungry.
Boy this is tough! I hope I will stick more to a pure juice diet tomorrow. Now on to the report from our friend Lee who seem to have dropped a considerable amount of weight overnight. It looks like the Afghan Food effect is now gone.
Lino’s Day 6 Summary

Notes: I felt good today, looking forward to the next 10 days.
Hello, again!
Thanks for your reply!
I came here to see if there were any new posts from you 🙁
I hope things are going well and it is just a computer glitch. I think that what you are doing-eating some fruits and veggies, plus juice, is much harder than an actual juice fast. It looks easier from the outside but is actually much harder. I see why he set it up this way though. This is the best way to start and finish a fast, with fruits and veggies.
When you purely juice, your digestion shuts down, so after 3 days, your body stops having hunger pains. The desire to eat is more emotional. That is when you can coast along on the juices quite easily. As long as you take in solid food, you will be constantly dealing with demands from your stomach and it will be hard to disconnect from the food.
I have had some detox symptoms of weakness, dizziness and persiration and have been able to sleep them out, which may be good in my case, since I have had insomnia for years and have a lot of sleep to make up for.
I had to go to a restaurant with family,(luckily after day 3) and wasn’t sure if I could do it. I brought a little cooler with me with 2 bottles of juice in it. I had to explain to the waitress that I wouldn’t be eating who was fine with it. I asked for a water with lemon which the waitress happily supplied and sipped that, then got my juice out when the main meal came. I focused on the conversation and got through fine. That was a relief!
So, today is day 7. I weighed in this morning and had lost nine pounds! That was exciting-225!
I hope you and Lee are doing well now and in the future. Thanks for writing here which really inspired me! Deb
Hi Deb – I just uploaded my final post concluding the fast: https://www.mamaslebanesekitchen.com/juice-fast/juice-fast-day-15-advice/ But the way I’m that you went down 9 lbs in just 7 days. This was a much faster loss rate than I had. As far as detox, the way I felt it was mostly with my skin itching in the first 2-3 days. I thought I had allergies from beets however it was itching even if I didn’t juice beets. I googled around and read others having the same effect and attributing to detox. Good stuff! I wish you all the best with your juicing. How long are you going to go for?
Love your site! I am Lebanese myself as well. Born in Latin America. I have a small blog which has few Lebanese recipes along with other ones. I hope you pass by and have a look!
Thank you for the kinds notes Susana.
